• On April 28, 2021, Mercari Group established Mercoin, Inc. Mercoin is a new company developing services related to cryptoassets and blockchain technologies. By taking on the cryptoasset business, we will make it even easier for users to utilize financial services within the Mercari marketplace app, such as by allowing users to receive payment for Mercari sales in bitcoin and providing a single wallet function that incorporates not only Merpay’s payment and remittance services, but credit, cryptoassets, and asset management features as well.
• Mercari has also started work on blockchain technologies, which present new opportunities for individuals to exchange value. The company wants to redefine what it means to buy and sell, enabling anyone and everyone to easily exchange value in all its formsnot only as belongings and money, but services and digital content like non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

• We are looking to hire a frontend software engineer to develop web applications related to Merpay and Mercoin’s payment and finance services. You will be involved in development of both B2B and B2C applications. Specific work responsibilities include:
  • Growth development and functional improvement for Mercoin
  • Develop application forms for merchants dashboards
  • Develop merchant support tools
  • Develop customer support tools
  • Develop B2C services such as Mercari Web

• The development environment is as below:
  • Programming languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (TypeScript, React, Next.js)
  • Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, App Engine)
  • Configuration management tools: Terraform
  • Other: Circle CI, GitHub, Slack, JIRA, Crowi, Spinnaker

• The Frontend Team works on web development for each of the many various projects and goals Merpay and Mercoin are working to make a reality. As a member of Merpay and Mercoin’s Frontend Team, you will be given many opportunities to work on development of the product.
• Due to the nature of our service, our payment and finance applications are required to have high security, performance and accessibility. You will be required to work not only on feature development but also on non-feature requirements such as improving quality by applying high technical skills to deliver value to our customers at Merpay.
• The Merpay/Mercoin Frontend Team uses technologies such as TypeScript, Vue.js, Nuxt.js, React and Next.js for app implementation. We, of course, welcome those with experience using Vue.js or React, but any engineer capable of staying up to speed with the changes in frontend technology and selecting the right tools for the development of our product is equally encouraged to apply.

• Shared belief in and understanding of Mercari Group’s and Mercoin’s missions and values
• Ability to use HTML and CSS to implement solid user interfaces
• Basic knowledge of performance, accessibility, and security
• Understanding of version management and ability to participate in development via Git
• Knowledge of JavaScript and experience developing with UI libraries or frameworks such as React, Vue.js, and Angular
• Able to understand and explain web operation principles and browsers
