"What can I do to help society thrive with the finite resources we have?" The Mercari marketplace app was born in 2013 out of this thought by our founder Shintaro Yamada as he traveled the world. We believe that by circulating all forms of value, not just physical things and money, we can create opportunities for anyone to realize their dreams and contribute to society and the people around them. Mercari aims to use technology to connect people all over the world and create a world where anyone can unleash their potential. • Build@Mercari is a training program targeting software engineers that is provided by Mercari Group. The program provides opportunities for skill training and an internship intended for people who for any number of reasons have not received certain opportunities in life. The program is intended to encourage people who identify as minorities that are especially underrepresented in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and tech fields, such as women and members of the LGBT+ community.

• People active in today’s tech industry have diverse skill sets and backgrounds. However, some people of minority standing or background may not have received a full education or the chance to work as software engineers. The Build@Mercari training program provides a helping hand to these individuals and helps them in their careers as software engineers.
• We welcome applications from people who share Mercari Group’s mission and values and who are serious about their desire to achieve personal growth through their internship.

• The main objective of the Build Training Program is for participants to understand the fundamentals of software engineering. This program lasts for about two weeks. Throughout the program, participants will take on individual tasks with the support of engineers from Mercari Group. Participants will also have opportunities to receive general career advice from our engineers during office hours.
• The Build Training Program is not compensated.

• Selection process
• Applicants will first undergo document screening and a brief coding test. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in the Build Training Program, which will run for approximately two weeks.
• Program invitations will be sent out by the end of January.
• Application deadline: January 15, 2024 (subject to change)
• Programming languages to be used during the training period
