Reports To : Director, Product Certification Services, APAC

Dot Line To : Global Digital & Connected Product Certification Director

Purpose of Position

As APAC Digital & Connected Product Business Development Manager you will be responsible for building and growing this sector of Product Certification within APAC, in line with BSI’s Strategic plan.

The scope of Digital & Connected Product in this job responsibility initially covers consumer and industrial IoT, connected software applications, and cybersecurity product certification services across BSIs key sectors of Built Environment, Healthcare, Food/retail, Automotive and Aerospace, with the potential to expand in line with BSI strategy going forward.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Responsible for APAC Digital and Connected Product Certification budgeted sales and revenue.

Develop opportunities for collaborations across APAC in support of the Digital and Connected Product Certification business plan: local specifications and specifiers, government, key stakeholders, consultants, and leading companies, etc. Engage with them and promote BSI thought-leadership for digital and connected products across the region to pull the market demand.

Facilitate and support APAC Sales team to ensure effective execution of regional Digital and Connected Product Certification sales plan.

Work closely with Global Digital and Connected Product Certification Teams in above plans and liaise with BSI operations globally to develop effective local delivery resources as needed to respond to market needs.

Work collaboratively with APAC Product Certification Hub team members.

Work collaboratively with APAC Marketing team to support the development and implementation of the regional digital and connected product marketing plan.

Identify opportunities for regional and new global digital and connected product certification schemes, liaising whit the Global Digital and Connected Product Certification team to ensure appropriate and effective product development in line with BSI Product Certification NPD process.

Job Specification

Knowledge / Experience / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrable work experience (>5 years) in the digital and connected product sector, i.e.: consumer/industrial IoT, connected applications and/or cybersecurity are required.

Demonstrable understanding of digital and connected product technology, engineering or science.

Demonstrable commercial understanding and expertise, with the ability to translate excellent service into competitive advantage. Work experience of commercial development roles such as Business Development Manager or Sales Managers are preferred.

Excellent communication (written and oral) skills. Additional APAC language skills would be an advantage.

Ability to influence external and internal contacts and how this fits within BSI’s key sectors.

Proactive, dynamic and results orientated approach.
