You are passionate about creating holistic product experiences for users from all different walks of life. You are mobile first in your design approach, and are able to rally your peers around a concept. You can align both design and user experience to the strategy and business goals of the company, while clearly defining the what and why all the way up to the executive leadership team. Most importantly, you know that design is fundamentally about understanding people’s behaviors, interpreting between needs and wants, and creating a conduit between the product and the user in service of improving the person’s daily life.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product teams and key stakeholders to identify research questions
- Be the internal thought leader in domain of research and advocate for research methodologies
- Design and execute research studies that focus on both user behavior and user attitudes, employing the right methodology for the right insights
- Developing informed insights to guide and shape how our product teams think and how product teams execute their strategies
- Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, engineering, and marketing
- Communicate insights in creative and compelling ways
- Mentor other team members
- Scale research best practices and policies company wide
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in applied product research
- 3+ years experience working directly with product teams in end-to-end development
- 3+ years experience developing and guiding users through various research design methodologies including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, and surveys.
- Experience with user research supporting accessibility
- Business level English
- Read, write and speak Japanese
Preferred skill/experience
- Knowledge of programming, mobile iOS or Android, or HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Multidisciplinary background such as Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology
