About the role:
The Head of Crypto, Japan will be the focal point of Crypto business of Crypto.com in Japan with the expertise and knowledge of our global crypto business (tech, platform, custody, product, customer support, operation, security, risk management etc.) as well as the standard practice / requirements of crypto business in Japan.
You will be responsible for our end-to-end Crypto business on our own mobile app to be provided to the customers in Japan with the quality of service / security that meets market expectation and industry / regulatory standards, not only business but also technology.
The position is a key role at the Japan office to launch and grow the crypto business to accelerate the corporate vision of cryptocurrency in every wallet.
In this role, you will:
Pre-Commercial Launch
- Take the lead of all efforts to launch our Crypto business in Japan working with various global teams, such as developing implementation project plans, exploring appropriate schemes / structure to launch business and localizing our products / services.
- Develop and implement internal structure and operation (e.g. operational processes, customer support, risk monitoring, custody, fraud management) to meet regulatory requirements as well as market standard / expectation, while leveraging our global capability with global teams.
- Work for the regulatory license application efforts with internal functions (e.g. Legal, Tech, Product, IT Security, etc) and external stakeholders (Legal Counsel, consultants, business partners) to assure quality and accurate response(s) / submission(s) to regulators with regard to licensing.
Post-Commercial Launch
- Be responsible and oversee end-to-end our Crypto business in Japan to be managed in a quality manner meeting regulatory requirements and market standard / expectation, through the working collaboration with various global teams.
- Be the focal point of the local external relationships of Crypto and handle any Crypto related business / technical inquiries from external parties, including industry associations and regulators etc.
- Work with the Crypto Customer support, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Product, Information Security, Technology and Payment etc for ensuring the quality of services / platform / security / product and compliant with local regulatory requirements and market practice
- Take a lead for resolution of unexpected incidents / issues through the collaboration with global teams
- Drive the development and execution of market entry / growth strategy to ensure best-in-class in markets.
- Recommend business and product improvements based on research and competitive trends to ensure product ideas and features / benefits tailored for the Japan market.
- Lead local alliance and partner development to drive the penetration in the market as well as address the challenges for global product to be implemented in Japan
Requirements
- 10+ years experience of relevant experience in Cryptocurrency business and financial services organizations in Japan market
- Experience and knowledge of system, security at Cryptocurrency business
- Cryptocurrency business expertise is must, preferably experience in license application process, understanding of anti-money laundering regulations, cryptocurrency regulation;
- Knowledge of the Payment Services Act (), Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (), Act on Sales etc.of Financial Instruments () a plus;
- Experience interacting with local regulators (FSA) a plus;
- Excellent communication skill both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner for both Japanese and English.
