Degica is a fintech company that operates payment platform KOMOJU. We process payments for companies worldwide through credit card acquiring and processing of alternative payments such as Konbini, Digital Wallets, and other payment methods.

About the role

Degica is a product-centric organization where we put the customer first. We design, develop and deliver world-class payment products that help our customers grow their business and tap into new regions. The Payments Product Specialist (Japan) will be at the center of this process, collaborating with our product, operational, compliance, and management teams to build successful stories.

The Payments Product Specialist will be involved in aligning all the internal teams to the product vision and mission and will ensure compliance with local and global regulations on payments. The Payment Product Specialist will have an advisory role on any payments-related subjects across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our product managers on developing new payment products.
  • Find solutions to complex regulatory, compliance, and financial questions.
  • Interface with internal teams and align them on upcoming changes in products, processes, technology, and regulations.
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain effective customer onboarding procedures in collaboration with our product and compliance teams.
  • Understand and convey the local regulatory requirements to all involved stakeholders, including Installment Sales Act and other Japanese regulatory frameworks.
  • Streamline and improve processes in payments processing such as reconciliation, onboarding, foreign exchange, dispute/chargeback handling, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or management. MBA is a plus.
  • Background in payments, preferably credit card or alternative payments.
  • At least 5 years experience in relevant field (payments, banking, fintech)
  • Native Japanese speaker is a requirement.
  • Business level English. Comfortable with cross-cultural collaboration. You will be using English on a daily basis both in verbal and written form.
  • Business-driven self-starter and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of global regulatory framework of payments processing, for example, PSD2.
  • Past experience in a compliance position, such as AML, risk management, credit risk, or similar.
  • Past experience working with engineering, IT, or product teams
