Purpose
Medley Advisors, an EA Group business, is looking for a political, economic, and monetary-policy analyst to cover Japan. Medley Advisors, part of Energy Aspects Ltd, is a leading macro policy research service for the world’s top hedge funds, asset managers, banks and institutional investors. Our expertise combines central banking, government finance, trade and energy policy, national security and politics. We help our clients see around corners by integrating our intelligence into investment decisions. We help a blue-chip clientele navigate exposures to a constantly shifting landscape of monetary, fiscal, regulatory, energy and geopolitical risks and opportunities.
Requirements
Your experience could be in journalism, academia, central banking, government, or markets but you will need to show:
- Knowledge and interest in macroeconomics, monetary policy, markets, politics, and energy policy.
- An ability to write clearly in English and boil down complexity into a forward-looking and tradeable call,
- Have the initiative, personality, and enthusiasm to develop a contact network,
- The confidence and knowledge to guide clients through policy arguments and political analysis and see their market relevance.
Job Duties
- Analyse and predict the policy responses of the Bank of Japan and the ministry of finance.
- Research and assess political and geopolitical risk, and energy policy.
- Closely monitor developments in the Japanese economy and markets.
- Establish a network of government, central bank, market and industry contacts.
- Help write short, market-relevant position reports.
- Discuss these issues with a local and global institutional-investor clientele.
