Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW

Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) is a fundamental part of our offering at OQC, and we are looking for skilled and motivated individuals to engage with our technical team and customers to develop high-quality, robust and scalable systems that allow us to serve an ever increasing user base.

You will primarily work on the cloud infrastructure, but will have wide ranging responsibilities to ensure that our systems are operational and also in designing and executing next generation projects. You will also assist the development team with their tooling to ensure that aspects such as CI and release/packaging pipelines are properly configured and working well. We expect candidates with excellent technical and team working skills, knowledge of quantum computing is a bonus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure operation of our cloud and local infrastructure to meet ongoing experimental needs.
  • Apply engineering practices to ensure QCaaS operations are robust and scalable.
  • Maintain and incrementally improve existing cloud services based on technical and business led requirements.
  • Document and communicate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for the next generation requirements and designs relating to QCaaS and dependent systems, ensuring future business objectives can be met.
  • Work with third party system administrators on on-site projects, ensuring that the IT infrastructure is fit for purpose.
  • Conduct security audits and reviews, collaborating with third-party vendors where necessary.
  • Shape best practices in a growing organisation.
  • Mentor more junior members of a growing team.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 5+ years experience of system administration in a professional environment
  • Detailed knowledge of Linux
  • Excellent knowledge of scripting languages including bash
  • Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with AWS or Azure
  • Configuring and deploying continuous integration pipelines
  • Experience building maintaining and updating cloud systems
  • Mentoring and leadership skills


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Fluent English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Software development experience in python
  • Relational and no-sql database design
  • Network design and administration
  • Experience with job submission, software bus and queue management systems
  • Experience of systems admin and development for windows and macos

LOCATION amp; TRAVEL

Hybrid work location (office/home). Office location in Tokyo Ariake area. Occasional domestic travel may be required (less than 20%). Oversea travel may be required to destinations including the United Kingdom.
